New Years Resolutions
Happy 2010 everybody.
As is traditional, I will make some resolutions for the new year.
- I will successfully complete NaNoWriMo next year. This year I was pretty much entirely unprepared, and didn’t keep my family in the loop about my plans. Sick baby didn’t help any either. Next year, I will make sure my wife knows that I plan on NaNo’ing, and will spend some time before November creating some characters, scenery, plot, etc
- I will contribute to a FOSS project of some sort. I used to be a professional programmer, but some of the realities of life took me away from that. I am now in the military as a technician, working with hardware. I would like to keep up my software skills, and would like to see the possibility of transferring to computer engineer sometime in the future.
- On a similar note, I plan to return to Linux development. I have a half-emerged Gentoo system on my old “beater” desktop, which I will use for some Linux contributions, as well as for developing FOSS (see above).
- I will get myself into proper physical shape. I barely passed my PT test this year, and have a history of failing them. I intend to stop this trend. The gym, with its attendant instructors, is available to me before and after work, and I plan to use this resource.
- I also plan to blog more often. I’m paying for this server, I should probably get some proper use out of it.
